Ultrasonic welding runs in thousands of plants, but very few of the people who depend on it every day have ever had it explained properly. The manuals assume you already know. The manufacturers want to sell you a machine. And the engineer who set it up left three years ago.
Sonics 101 fixes that. It's a weekly series that starts with the basics and builds one idea at a time: what ultrasonics is, how a welder actually works, what each part of the stack does, why frequency matters, how to read an error code, and how to tell a machine problem from a part problem. No formulas, no jargon you have to look up, no engineering degree required.

WHO'S WRITING THIS
Rochester Industrial Services has been repairing ultrasonic welding equipment for more than 40 years, alongside industrial electronics, monitors, and chart recorders. We're an independent, ISO 9001:2015 certified repair facility in Rochester, New York, not tied to any manufacturer, which means we work on all of them: Branson, Dukane, Herrmann, Sonics & Materials, Telsonic, Crest, Mecasonic, Genesis, and the imported equipment that's showing up on more floors every year. Every frequency from 15 kHz to 40 kHz comes through our shop.
That's where this series comes from. When you've had thousands of power supplies, converters, boosters, and horns on the bench, you learn what actually fails, what people actually get wrong, and what would have saved them a service call. Sonics 101 is us writing that down.
