Gould
Charles Gould created what would become Gould Instrument Systems in the 1800s. Gould entered the manufacturing scene by producing high quality couplers for railroad cars. After initial success, Gould expanded his company, including an increasing number of electrical components. He eventually came to manufacture accurate and efficient data recorders for big-name companies like NASA. Through his extensive work in chart recording, Gould solved several chart recording issues during his time: excessive noise, wear, and the need to practice inconvenient maintenance upkeep. Japan Energy Corporation acquired Gould due to Gould’s indebtedness in 1993 but maintained the high-technology platform that Gould established. Gould Instrument Systems continues to manufacture circuit boards, testing equipment, and measurement equipment.
